Over 40 years ago the residents of the greater South York area united and successfully opposed York City’s proposed rezoning plans to allow commercial uses for key properties in residential neighborhoods. This larger entity later regrouped into smaller divisions by geographical area with like zoning. Thus, the Springdale Neighborhood Association (SNA) was formed and its Constitution and By-Laws officially adopted in 1977.
Today, the quiet charm and beautiful architecture of the single family homes along tree lined streets remains a hallmark of Springdale. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to those early champions who recognized the potential impact of ill-advised zoning revisions and took action. Not only did they preserve the high quality residential living that families and individuals from all walks of life greatly enjoy, they fostered an unmatched spirit of camaraderie among neighbors working together for common cause which still exists. This feeling of community evolved into gathering for the many popular social events we enjoy today.
